.25 vs .28 BBs
Hey guys,
So I know the norm is to use .25 BBs in your AEGs but Ive been hearing from a few people that .28s perform better for outdoor play, specifically when shooting through bush, etc. What are your thoughts on this? Im trying to decide which BBs to buy, which is why im asking. I figure that the .28s being heavier will make them go through bush easier, as well as be less effected by the wind? Cheers, John |

I tried .25's and they were awesome for cutting through long grass....
.28's made those through grass shots much more accurate and in my SG\1 I really needed that pinpoint accruacy..... just my oppinion.... PG |

Hey John,
If your AEG is shooting to most field limits (400fps with .2gs), then .28 is the way to go. Hell I use .3s. They punch through everything very nicely.

0.28's are way better. I just recently tried 0.25's (BB Bastard and Madbull) and they were OK for outdoor, but I'm going back to 0.28 (not BB Bastard or Madbull) for the bush penetration and accuracy/distance.
Like was said just make sure your gun is shooting fairly hot (400-ish FPS) so that you'll still have velocity shooting 0.28's. I shoot 400fps on 0.2's, 360fps on 0.25's, and 330fps on .28's. So it's about a 30fps drop switching to each. Last edited by Styrak; September 14th, 2008 at 18:20.. |

.28 BB Bastards all the way! My PTW loves them...amazing accuracy outdoors.

there is no "this is what you do"
I greatly prefer .23's to .25's outdoors *shrug*

Yeah, the AEG I just bought is shooting roughly 360 fps. So if I wanted to switch to .28 BBs then Id have to buy a new spring?

Well you'd be shooting about 300, which is perfectly respectable. Unless you wanted to bump that up. Remember it's not like 300 with 0.2's, you'd have way more range and accuracy. |

What would the effective range increase be going from .20 to . 25 and from .20 to .28

You're saying that shooting 300fps with .28 bbs I will have that increased range and accuracy? |

That's about how my gun was performing when I first tried .28s. I was disappointed with the noticeably decreased range from .2s or .25s so I went up a spring stiffness and I couldn't be happier.
