I got my Red Dot Scope, but how to use it?
Hi everyone,
Yes I know this is the newbiest question and I am new to Airsoft as well. I did the search and couldn't find the answer myself. I got my CA G3M41 today and it comes w/ a Red Dot Scope. BUT, 1. How to tell which side is front end and which side is back? or it doesn't matter? 2. Red Dot Scope, but where is that Red Dot? How to turn it on? It doesn't look like having a power (battery) in the scope. And I don't see any colorful dot when I see thru the tube Thank you for your help.

Well there should be a knob somewhere on the scope with which you can turn it on (depending on what kind of RDS it is it could be either on the top or the right hand side). This knob should have either numbers or on/off.
Sometimes, if not most times, the front of the RDS is tinted (red, green, etc). As for battery, it all depends on what kind of RDS you have. Pictures would be helpful. Sweet, post count is at .223

1) The front (facing the things you're shooting) will usually have some kind of colour (red/orange) when looking at it from any angle at all. It matters because the dot is only projected onto one side so you won't see anything if you look at it from the wrong side.
2) Depends on what type it is. Usually a knob will turn it on and adjust brightness. The batteries are small so don't expect to find a standard battery there. It may have died or not come with one at all. It's hard to say without knowing what type of red-dot it is. The most common one is a variation of this: http://cdn.overstock.com/images/prod.../P11260983.jpg For that particular one the top knob is brightness. If you have an aimpoint like this http://wicksgunshop.com/catalog/imag...cantilever.jpg the knob on the back controls brightness. There's plenty of other types so if you know what brand, that will help.

Thanks for the info, here is my red dot scope pix.
I believe the left hand side is the Front-End Lens (toward flash hidder) There is no On/Off button. No matter what I do to those knobs, there is NO red dot at all *post edited by ILLusion. It's probably a dead battery. It looks like that knob at the top is the brightness (0 being off). On top of that knob, there's a slot. Take a coin or screwdriver and while holding the knob so it doesn't turn, unscrew that top cap. Underneath should be the battery. Note the size (probably a CR2032) and buy a replacement.

Turn the big knob on the top to turn on and adjust through the various levels of brightness. If you still see nothing, chances are, the battery is dead and you'll need to apply a large sized coin (loonie) to the slot on the top to unscrew the cover to replace the battery.
