Clear Sig 552

So after a few hours of digging, I believe I have found the original manufacturer of these clear 552's. As it has been stated by others in other threads, I believe they are manufactured by Tokyo Marui. The trail I found goes like this:
TM -> Cybergun -> Swiss Arms
This is just what I found, I may be wrong. This is the information I went from, whether it is correct or not remains to be seen.
Airsocom says manufacturer is Cybergun
And ShortyUSA says the TM version is licensed through Cybergun.
If my logic is flawed please feel free to flame, I know I would flame me too.

wow - if that's the case then the $220 price tag is quite sweet (for those people that don't freak out about having to paint them)

nice work

Made in China. No way in hell it's TM. Sig-licensed? Perhaps, but I doubt it since Chinese aren't knows for playing into copyright / trademark laws. TM-compatible? Definitely. Made by TM? Not a chance in Hades.

And BTW, the one you linked to on shortyusa is a NON-CLEAR TM... Big difference... I think shorty may have just copied a generic description for that gun.

cybergun is an import company which, through legal means, has bought many of the licensing rights to import fully-trademarked airsoft products into the US. the shortyUSA link is for a TM nothing more just a legally trademarked TM it has nothing to do with the clear one. cybergun imports from many manufacturers. this clear one is not TM. TM has already said they will not make clear guns.

To expand on that - they are like Echo 1 in a sense. They accquired licensing rights, and buy these guns from China. They repackage / rebrand them as Cybergun, and resell them.

Echo 1, however, buy up non-branded JG and other Chinese guns, trademark them as Echo 1, do extra QA, and then resell them as Echo 1.

And also as tex stated, TM never has and never will produce clear guns.

Echo 1 is one thing, their guns have proven to be above par than the other clones, I've never heard anything good about Cybergun but I do like the Sig 552's looks so if it does turn out to be a good gun, I would consider buying one and giving it the 'ole krylon treatment

Ok so it's not a TM, then is it a JG? JG does have a licensed 552 and the gearbox looks black, could it be true?

Edit: Now I think of it, the FPS of the Swiss Arms is way above the TM, so that doesn't make sense anyway.

Well - even a JG for that price isn't bad. What are the chances that CG or SA does the same sort of QA that Echo1 does with its rebrands? If it were similar, then the deal would still be quite interesting.

Yeah. TMs are usually in the 260-290 fps range... That's WAY too hot to be a TM.

That's because they give extra QA treatment to their JG guns before shipping. And problematic stuff is fixed, they're reshimmed, relubed, etc... Makes a big difference in many cases. In other cases, JG guns are excellent too.

And I woudn't be surprised to find out that it is indeed a JG mechbox in these guns. However, I wouldn't count on it because it's black. DBoys also make non-reinforced black mechboxes. It doesn't take much to spray paint a mechbox.

The one I ordered at AIRGUNSOURCE just arrived at my door today.

On the box, it's clearly written:
PRODUCED BY CYBERGUN SA - BP87 Bondoufle - France
Distributed in the USA by:
SOFT AIR USA Dallas (Tx)

I went to the workshop to do some mods on it. First,it's 100% TM compatible (I used to have the TM version). Beside some flaws in the plastic parts (minor), it's a well done AEG.

- Flashhider is -14mm but it's plastic
- Metal outer barrel, sights, trigger...
- NiMH 1100mAh 8.4v with wall charger
- Cheap sling
- 300 Low quality BBs
- The markings on the body are not genuine
- Black GB and unknown motor (Looks like a JG)

Didn't pass it on the chrony but it seem to have a hard punch.
