I find it easier to use Acetone (nail polish remover) on orange tips. Bad experience with brake fluid, it can soak into the metal and lift up, over time, any new paint.

What about completely removing the orange tip, as in like...opening up the gun or something.

depends what type of tip you have on... some guns have a removable tip in which it is an extra piece that can be pulled from the barrel with some force. If not, then it is a blaze tip, in which the slide is painted with the orange tip. In this case, you have to remove the paint, as it is not a seperate piece... i use acetone also, although small amounts at a time, if your gun has a coat of paint already underneath the orange tip

It's the one where it's just an orange piece sticking out. So you're saying I can just pull it out with pliers or something? Wouldn't that leave some extra orange plastic stuff inside the gun, or would it just completely come off?

i found that using steel wool with acetone works real well while everythings still wet. then you just take some buffer cloth and buff everything back to a shine
