Hurricane 553 (EOTech Clone) Not Very Bright

I'm having an issue in sunny conditions where my EOTech 553 clone by Hurricane isn't appearing very bright at all. The reticle is almost invisible and it's really killing my reaction time. In the bush under a canopy of dense trees or inside a poorly lit building, the thing works great. When it's thick overcast or dark outside it works just fine as well, but if there's a lot of light I find I have difficulty finding the reticle. Its like this in both red and green modes, with the brightness setting at its highest level.

At Rawdon I found I was searching for my crosshairs longer than I was searching for targets!

Any suggestions as to what may be the problem? Maybe battery choice?

Maybe, I find the reticle on mine is too bright on it's highest setting. No problems seeing it sunny days when up a gainst a light coloured object never mind in a bit of cover or shade.

My 552 replica (from Huang) also has that same issue. It's hard to see against a brightly lit background. I guess that's what the difference is between a real holosight and a projected red dot replica. From what I've heard from a couple of guys who've had the EOTechs on their C8s in Afghanistan, they have no trouble seeing the reticle even in brightest of conditions.

It works fairly well though. I find that in daylight, if I set it to the highest brightness and switch to the red, it works better than green. Also, the reticle is now easier to see that I have a lens protector on it.

Hurricane 553. More of a tan than FDE. Side by side with a mystery brand clone, both are on full high. I can't trick the auto focus on the camera to "see" the reticle so in person both are much brighter but the mystery sight has a much thinner and dimmer ring. maybe someday when I'm really bored I'll figure out where to set the focus.
