mac 11 mag question
how does this thing work?
this m11 mag i've been told they work in those Tactical Force mac11's. However the m11 i have, the mag takes a c02 cartridge. Does this one work the same way? Or do you charge the mag with green gas??

Hard to tell but looks like it takes green gas/propane.

CDN_Stalker, yeah that's what i thought too. Sooooo......next question would be, what would that do....er, how would my M11 function on propane do you figure? I remember seeing a gas comparison chart around here somewhere.
But propane wouldn't hurt my gun would it?

Propane wouldn't hurt your gun, but if it's designed for a higher pressure gas (CO2), the performance on propane may be lacking and rof will more than likely take a big hit. There's a possibility that there might not be enough pressure to cycle the bolt. But it wouldn't hurt it.
Now, it MAY work just fine too, but with reduced performance.

Propane is typically a bit higher pressure than green gas, guess is maybe 20-30psi stronger, but I can't say if that mag will work in your gun nor can I say what will happen since I only have expereince with the KSC M11A1s.

I thought propane and green gas are one and the same.

Propane is green gas. I think perhaps Stalker meant to say CO2 instead of propane at the beginning of his post, because CO2 is about 20-30 psi stronger than propane / green gas.

No, somewhere there is some info showing propane is a bit more psi than green gas, and I think it was backed up with chrony results. Maybe the stink gives the BBs a bit more poop?

I'd have to find the gas comparison chart, but I seem to remember that the numbers you gave of 20-30 psi is the difference between CO2 and propane / green gas. I could see green and propane having different pressures because even though they're the same base gase, they do have different additives, but I don't think there'd be that much of a difference. 20-30 psi is a pretty substantial difference.

Well, yes it is, but notice I said it was a guess at the numbers? Don't recall (nor did I then) the exact numbers, but 20-30 was kinda high, could be more like 10 or something.

either way, green gass or propane has too low a psi for this mac 11 though you think??

Only two ways to find out, try it or search out the info. I've never heard of that gun before, not even on here, so chances are few will have any info to give. Try the gas discussion section on www.airsoftretreat.com for better info (and MUCH more people there too).

Nope. I have fired a CO2 powered mini Uzi though, and holy freaking recoil and rate of fire on the thing!!! Is like hugging a jackhammer while it's running!
Besides, I've been around airsoft for almost 5 years now, and all the clones and weird brands are new to me, they have really only been popping up the past couple years and haven't made a breakthrough to me (or most others) til a year and a bit ago. I also own the Tac. Force M11 (Great gun) If those green mags will fit in the gun then they should work the same as the co2 mags that come with the gun. The Tac. Force gun uses the Maruzen blowback system and the Co2 mags that they come with are regulated (stock co2 is like 800 psi). They may be regulated down to 110-120psi which is what green/propane is.
I wouldnt hesitate on trying it out if I were you (if your sure that they will fit). Its kind of the same concept as the WE's (Hi-Capa's) that can either use green or the co2 mags. Your fps,rof and recoil will all go down slightly but not enough to not make it worth while in the long run. Plus the mags that come with the Tac Force are hideous. And if this green mag will work in the M11 then it will also work in the Crosman Micro Uzi ('cause the Crosman and Tac. Force mags are identical) I own both guns, so I know. I might do this myself someday.... |
