Lumen

Hi,

Quick question, does Canada custom have any restriction with respect to how many lumen a flashlight can have?

There a G&P out there with 500 lumens for 75$, quite a good deal when you consider the lument to $ ratio

Thanks

aren't 500 lumen borderline dangerous for your opponent's eyes?

Most people with good tac lights run in the 80-120 lumen range. Enough to blind an opponent temporarily in a dark room but not really dangerous. 500 lumens...I wouldn't go that far.

I know at 4100 lumens you can light paper on fire and boil eggs, was posted here on ASC a little while ago:

I never heard of lumen output restriction. Your taclight might get seized if it's an illegal copy. I highly doupt that it will be seized for it's light output.

In CQB environement, 80 to 120 lumen is plenty. More than that it become counter productible as it blind YOU too.

Yeah, perfectly safe,... that is why they still have the big warning stickers on them telling you to NEVER point them in an eye of anything?

Yes, you can look right into a high powered laser and not take any permanent damage, or you might be blinded. Much the same as you can put 5 bullets into a six shooter, put it to your head and pull the trigger. Bad things might NOT happen, but there is a fairly good chance of it.

I purchased a Surefire M6. Got through Canada Custom with no issue, other than the $80 duty. A Surefire M6 can illuminate a 30 to 40 foot diameter area from 500 feet away because of its Turbo Head Reflector. Try that in close quarters!

Are you on fucking crack?! 5mW is borderline, the mere reflection of a 200mW can blind you!
