G&P M500

I was thinking of getting the G&P M500 and was thinking will it fit onto the Dboys full metal 2007 M4A1 or the Classic army M15A4 Carbine? Many retailers said it will only fit on the Tokyo Mauri's series while I've seen some people somehow miraculously did fit the G&P M500 onto their CA M15A4's. Does anybody know if it will fit on both airsoft and if it can, how would you modify the M4's to allow the M500 to fit? Thanks.

The G&P kit requires a three piece barrel, so a little work is require.

IIRC, the issue is that the grip is longer/shorter than a regular one, so you have to move it along with the sight either by retaping of epoxying the assembly.

The light it self is nice, but you might want to consider another route to add a taclight to your setup:

I looked at those 45 degree rails before but the hand guards gets a bit narrow at the front sight so the tac light would not aim straight but instead aim a little bit down. Also I don't have a tac light or a mount to mount the tac light onto a rail so the M500 would covered both fields. Also, How do you mean by retaping of epoxying the assembly? Thanks.

The handguards rails are compensated for the slope.

What holds the guard collar (the round piece between the sight and the handguards) is the triangle sight.
What holds the triangle sight in place is a pair of pins that mount in notches under the barrel.

You will either have to redo the notches in your barrel, or glue it in place with a good adhesive, like epoxy.

Or buy a new front end with RIS rails.

Ive had two, it will not fit the ca delta ring, although the plastic is extremely easy to mod to fit.

Do you know if I could put a Authentic Surefire AB head on the replica G&P M500a? Like this:

Unfortunatly, this part is too hazy in my memory for me to comment on this since I only had the gun a couple of weeks.

You might as well pick up the real unit if you intend on replacing parts IMHO.

Or if you're on a budget and just want to stick a huge light on your M4, consider foregrid rails

well, I just got the Dboys full metal 3681M which is half the price of a CA so I now have the extra money for the G&P M500. I'll get that at airsoftadvantage.com $85 with batteries and charger included on tuesday and I'll post up how it fits with pics. Also,

The Dboys and CA as well, have a one piece barrel set so do I need to replace/cut out a section of the one piece barrel set on my M4? if you havan't explanied this yet.

Edit:
P.S. Actually, i'm still deciding on the lapolicegear rails or the M500 but am leaning towards the M500 but I'm definately gonna buy one or the other no later than tuesday.

In all honnesty, it's been at least 2 years since I've had the m500, so I don't recall the specifics on installation. Since I had a TM m4, I just dropped it on.

Update:
Well, nearly six months later.....I finally got my tactical light mount... Unfortunately, Since a new G&P M500 is in the upper $100 I decided to go with something cheaper. I felt I made a good choice though. after surfing real firearm forums, all the hype goes to the "front sight mount" I found one made for the real thing and I bought it for $25. It has 4 slot rails on both sides of the front sight post. For the tactical light I have on, it's a Streamlight TLR-1 I took off my Glock 22.

Before:

After:

Since I need the TLR-1 for the Glock, I'll be replacing it with a Surefire G2L soon. Next thing to do is to paint the flash hider black.

Looking good!

Since we are revisiting this thread, I might as well mention a new revision of the G&P M500.

As previously stated, you absolutely need a 3 pieced barrel to be able to simply drop the old revision of this light. It was basicly designed from the ground up for the old TM M4.

Now, it seems G&P finally woke up, and released a new revision, as seen here:

http://cgi.ebay.com/G-P-M500-Airsoft...QQcmdZViewItem

Seems to be based on their R500 light, has three activation modes as opposed to the older version's one, rechargeable batteries stock, etc.

It also seems to be compatible with any M4 lenght foregrips.

Sweet!

I love your 'before' and 'after' comparison. And thanks for the followup.

I reserve final jugement until I come around to building an CA Armalite around it for the girlfriend, but the new revision seems to have fixed all of the issues I had with the older model.

First and foremost, what pissed me off what the inability to have a constant on, since the on/off switch (the two little square buttons, one with a raised circle, one with a depressed circle) was molded solid. The addition of a tailcap button at the back is nice, though for airsoft use it's kind of redundant.

The rest is just very sweet icing on an already nice cake.

I have a lot of faith in G&P products, I've been trying them out since back in '04. The quality and design has been on a constant rise over the years. I'm not ready to hand over my Surefire stuff yet for professionnal use, but along with the appearance of a new generation of crazy high powered LED CREE emiter (275 luminens Q5 anyone? Oh, and you also get three to six times the run time for twice the power. On 6V. For 20$. Fuck...), I might have to start building a "disposable" light setup for high theft risk jobs.

All in all, I'll probably end up getting this when I finish my M4 CQBR Grenadier.

Update:

Thanks to surebet for his mention of the new G&P M500 ... I got very interested again. So for $89 I got the New G&P M500. Sorry, their not the best pictures...

You actually can have a constant on... At least on mine. Both the pressure and the rocker switches work perfectly fine and the way it's suppose to. the rear rocker click turns it on for constant and forward switch to turn off.

The unit is definitely noticibly heavy but it's not too bad and the only cons I can think of is that it does make the M4 front heavy and the bezel does get quite hot just after 30 seconds of turning it on. I haven't really used the light yet so I don't know the battery life. I haven't used this long enough to recommend it yet.
