Idea for improvised manual BB loader for GBB mags
This just happened to work perfectly for me because my GBB mags are 15 round capacity and so are my loaders.
I took 5 bic "ultra round stic grip usa" pens (the cheap ones they sell at staples) and took the ink/ballpoint out of the pen (no tools needed, it pops out with very little effort), and filled the hollow tube with BBs! Each tube is a little over 6mm in diameter (likely 7 or 8mm) and fits the BBs perfectly. I also put some foam in the cap so the BBs dont shake around once the cap is put on. With the caps put on, I have 5 BB tubes ready to use for filling my mags, each providing 15 rounds that can be loaded in an a few seconds. To load, you just align the pen with the BB compartment on the mag and pull the mag's spring down and let gravity do it's job. Now I know lots of you will say invest in a BB loader or one of those neat flashbang or grenades that hold BBs, but even though airsoft is an expensive sport, I still like to keep my costs minimal as I am a broke university student, and this solution works quite well, at least for me. If somebody else can benefit from the idea, then this thread has served its job. Seeing as how I didn't want my GBB to become an endless money pit by buying a lot of mags as I want to save for an AEG, I wanted to be able to carry easily loadable ammo. My GBB can fire anywhere from 30 to 50 shots on a gas fill depending on the weather, so I don't need that many mags. |

I find most of the time when I change GBB mags is because I'm in the middle of a firefight without the time to reload the mag, more that than gas purpose.
If you say this method doesn't rattle, then it definitely beats out the BB loader because that certainly rattles when you run around. What I used to do to speed reload is to use straws. Cut out the length of the straw in proportion to how many BBs I need, and that works pretty well. Now that I got extra mags and speed loader, I no loader use it. Speed loader isn't expensive anyway, and it's quite useful. On ebay, they run above $10 for a Marui one, or like $5 for the elcheapo ones. |

Straws eh? I thought of that but my straws were too narrow. I had no idea a speed loader only cost that much, I guess I'll have to hop on ebay and get one, maybe even take it apart and add some foam to stop rattle. Thanks for the tip.

I used to use the oval tubes that come with those necklace/bracelet glow sticks, the tube protects them in the package and can hold BBs perfectly in a double stack.

Subway restaurant straws tend to work alright.
