Does anyone know what exactly is required to make this a possibility for my AK?

And if there is major gun break down due to the movement of this?

You have to file down a gap of a few millimetres along the top of the mechbox, as well as stop using the stopper rail. I don't know of any long-term ramifications... however the movement of the bolt alone adds a significant load to the motor, gears and piston.

It is mostly a cosmetic modification that's rather cool, but the gun will still operate properly, I would expect considerably faster wear on parts, if it were a game gun.

I had this AK bolt back carrier a couple months ago and decided not to have the work done to install it by my local gun doctor. The bolt assembly it self is very well made and it a ‘handful’ of added weight for your motor, gears and piston to propel the bolt back action. Yes it is really cool to have this set up …but not sure if it is good for game situations. I searched all over the web and unable to get a review of this product.

I put this on my sons TM AK 47. I also installed a Guarder FTK (thanks Madmax). From what I can tell it didn't slow down the rate of fire one bit. There is a notch that has to be dremelled through what has to be the thickest part of the gearbox. At the same time I put on a Guarder Full metal kit. When this thing cycles it definatly makes a distinctive sound with the bolt slamming back against the metal body.
The only down side that I can see to this is that after about 5000 rounds the body cracked from the bolt slamming against it (who woulda thought?) It could have just been a defect with this body or it may have been the recoil spring that pushes the bolt forward.

Installed it myself this past winter, and yeah it's cool and all, but I decided not worth the trouble. As said above the design adds quite a bit of stress to the innards of your mechbox, and I was concerned about durability over the long term, as none of my guns are hangar queens, they all see field time.

The bolt itself is extremely well made, and I would recommend buying the plain version without the adapter to attach it to the piston just as a cosmetic upgrade.

Damn marked, you cracked a guarder metal front end? I would have been devastated!

You're right, it does look cool, but its a tad unnecessary, since my AK is my primary AEG.

I am looking on getting the full steel one that doesnt kick back. cause it is super sexy.
