Vortex SPARC
Hello ASC,
I'm interested in getting a Micro Red Dot for my AK. Upon looking around, I found Vortex and their Micro Red Dot called the SPARC(Speed Point Aiming for Rapid Combat). http://www.vortexoptics.com/product/...-red-dot-scope My understanding is; these are Real Steel red dots for about half the price of an Aimpoint. Does anyone have experience with these? Are they worth the cash? I don't want to spend $70 on a T1 clone, and it not be bright enough to use outdoors/ in the snow.

Yeah, they're nice little units.
They're like an Aimpoint T1 Micro. |

I've tried the Aimpoint T1,TRS-25 and SPARC.
I had purchased the TRS-25 for airsoft but I found that it had a bit too much of a green tint to it. It was pretty dark to my liking as well. It's been replaced with the SPARC. |

Had a SPARC on my real XCR. Comes with the screw on magnifier. Best optic I've used, period.

I did a side by side comparison between the SPARC and my Primary ARMS red dot. I've also had a chance to do the same comparison with the vortexx strikefire. These would be my notes, and it's not the first time I posted this either:
1. PA Dot brightness is superior to SPARC 2. Both equally hold zero on real guns. 3. SPARC feels less durable 4. After spiking my PA into a concrete parking lot like a football 5 times, PA still hold zero on live fire. SPARC owner refused to perform the same 'test'. 5. PA is 1/2 to 1/3 the price 6. SPARC glass is marginally better than PA. IMO <20% difference 7. I've left my PA on in the gun safe for 6-8 weeks at a time and the battery has not died. I assume the SPARC has a comparable battery life. If you can find the means to get yourself a PA do it. It's far better value for the dollar. That being said the SPARC is a good RDS |

Yes, I did actually see this. However, I have no means of getting the PA red dot, and thus this point is moot. Thank you though.

I actually ended up locating a PA micro. It's fantastic! And it was much cheaper than any SPARC. Since I don't have NODS I don't require the Night Vision feature.
I am extremely pleased.

Bought it off a person who PM'd me on the forums. How he acquired it, is beyond me.
