Matrix/ A&K Single Drum mags
So I was looking into getting a drum mag for as an option for an Assault rifle.
I got an AK-74, G3, G36, and an M16 platform. Evike is selling a 3000rd Auto-winding Electric Drum mag for all of these platforms at the same price. They appear to be rebranded A&K mags too The mags themselves look exactly the same on the images, but with different interfaces. Has anyone confirmed whether these mags are the same with different interfaces? The links are as followed: I currently work in the States, so ordering accessories from a USA supplier is more economical atm. I'm a Canadian though, so my airsoft stuff is still in Canada. really does looks so.
However, only the AK uses that style of drum... all the other usually go with BETAC doubles instead (there are some drums out there that exist for them, but that's not the norm) Also, most games/fields won't let you run a drum on anything but LMGs (RPK, MG36... I don't think any M4/G3 exist in MG/LMG form, at least not mag fed.) |

HK11, legit LMG!
http://www.airsoftcanada.com/showthread.php?t=145719 There's also a shrike kit for the M4, but those are few and far between. Most fields do allow drums for support weapons, although if it were up to me you wouldn't be allowed a drum on anything that's not belt fed |

I have an A&K g36 beta C mag... it doesn't feed very fast... actually probably maxes out at 18rps. I don't know for sure or not if A&K makes a g36 drum like that, I can't remember. that's more the AK style drum.
On a full wind it will feed for about a second.. then it loses pace with my gun. :P It runs off 4 AAs... I stuffed a 6.6 life into it and it feeds a bit faster. I also tried a 7.4 lipo... it went a bit faster still... I didn't quite like the smell coming from the motor though... so stuck with the 6.6 life. I imagine all the guts to be the same inside, it's a pretty small looking motor driving plastic gears.

Just get a new motor for it, I drive the tiny motors in my G&P box mags off an 11.1v

Well guess I'll stick with MG36 then if fields are really restricting types of weapons that can be converted to SAWs.
I like the idea though of the single drum more than the Beta C for the fact that it's easier to maneuver with ... Would that make the gun un-fieldable? Technically too I'd like to bring my gun closer to looking more like an MG3's mag than the Beta C. I was at OP: Bad Blood in the states, and my biggest issue there when we were fighting was that we had a total of 2 LMGs for 100 people in my team... Thus suppressive and cover fire was relatively minimal despite the excessive amount of M4s running around. |

well the mg36 itself is on shakey ground. there are those that argue that it was never purchased by a fighting force and never put into service... so it never made it past prototype because the standard full length g36 was good enough to fulfill that role... So there are probably fighting forces out there that run a full length g36 with a betamag as a support weapon. Purists will still tell you it's not a support gun. I say it's all larp anyways, who the fuck gives a damn about how you have fun.
There's an increasing number of converted or re-purposed rifles that are being put into use as support guns such as the l86 with a drum and super long barrel and the m24 IAR among others. The IAR is just a full length 416 with a heavier barrel that runs off STANAGs and according to wikipedia, beta Cs are being tested on it. I would say use the one that works best and to hell with the haters. go and shoot bitches. In the end, those are questions you need to ask individual game organizers.

I sell a (probably better quality) STEEL autowinding drum magazine for AK's right here:
http://www.sasksoftarmoury.ca/index....roducts_id=228 Would also be much cheaper than ordering from Evike. |
