Budget Optics

Hello ASC,

Due to budgetary concerns, it will be many years before I have the money to purchase a RS EOTech or AimPoint; however I am still interested in getting a red-dot for my gun. I have been looking at these:

I am asking for your opinion on this brand, as well as style of red-dot. Who's used them, and are they superior to the china-clones of the RS military optics?

My theory is: since they are designed for hunting, they should be able to hold a zero (as long as you don't switch reticles), as well as having a clear reticle in daylight, compared to the China clones. Am I correct in thinking this?

I have not used that particular brand of that sight, but I have used that style and they area good sight for CQB or short range shooting. My only problem is they are easy to have shot out on you, no one makes a kill flash lense protector for them yet that I have found. If your looking for a decent reddot Bushnel has a version of the Aimpoint T-1 which I currently use on my GBBRs and its great it uses any of the T-1 mounts. Its a little more then that sight you posted $99 if you look hard. But it has after market kill flashes/lense protectors available.

i find that reflex sights is not well protected from snapping
you should invest in a tasco red dot tube sight, for the same price range, what exactly is your budget?

My budget is trying to find something effective for cheap. Prefferably around the $50 mark. I have other parts I would like to purchase before the next big game I have to go to.

Additionally; I an putting this on my AK gastube rail. That being said, size and weight are a concern of mine.

That's what I was hoping for. Nothing too fancy or expensive. Just simple, and effective.

I use a Tasco 30mm tube-style RDS. Works great, on GBBRs, for over a year now.

It's heavier than most open-type sights, but a LOT more protected. It got hit so many times and still hold zero and works perfectly. 11 levels, I usualy put it on 4 for indoors and 8-11 outdoors/sunny.

Which brand of Reflex were you using? Did it have a tinted lens, or a clear one? One of the features that attracts me is the different reticles. I've never been a huge fan of just a "dot".

I'm looking for a good SVD scope. My friend gave me his hold one. But the lock doesn't move up when you close the handle on it. And for the life of me when the height and side to side is adjusted all the way to the right spots so it should be zeroed. It's still high and to the right. Can't change the knobs on them further. Too zero them out.

Well I'm more concerned with red-dots.

However; if your gun is still shooting too high and to the right, I have a question for you: Do your BBs "hook" to the right a little? Or are they travelling in a straight line, just to the right.

Either way, your houpup may be misaligned, as well as set too high. Scopes are only designed for so much play with a gun. The idea is that the gun you're shooting still shoots straight.

Try this primary arms one, its a clone of the Aimpoint, and handled the recoil of my cousin's Tavor and kept it's zero, so it should be just fine for airsoft.

Personally, since I'm sticking it on the gas-tube-rail of my AK, I would rather something smaller. The full size aimpoints are kind of big for the front of a gun, and the rail is already made of metal. Too much weight at the front of my gun won't be fun at a 24hour game.
