Help with TLP TL15 charger

alright i recently bought a 8.4v 1700mah NiCd battery and i'm using my brother TLP charger, when i put it on slow charge the output amp only stays on 00.2 and i cant change that, is there anyway i can change the output charge? and since my battery is new should i put it thru slow charge a few time before i start fast charge or does it matter? and how should i condition a battery properly with a discharger?.

I got the same charger and you can't change the Amp in the slow charge mode. The TLP 15 have the discharging function, push twice on the button and it will go to the Fuzzy Logic Mode. It will discharge the batt then it will charge it for 2 min at slow mode and then it will change to the fast mode to finish the cycle. The lower you can go on the fast mode is 0.5 A.

It only makes sense that slow charge is charging at .2A, or 200mA.

Charge it with the Fuzzy Logic Mode (by the way you should always take this setting because of the discharging function) and set the output Amp between 1.0 and 1.5 when the fast charge start.

I have the same charger as well, and I just thought that this might be useful to you. :-D

Fast Charging Formula

20-minute Charge: Battery Capacity X .003 = Charging Current Setting
30-minute Charge: Battery Capacity X .002 = Charging Current Setting
60-minute Charge: Battery Capacity X .001 = Charging Current Setting

For example, if you want to charge a 2000 mAH NiCad battery in 30 minutes, this is how it would work: 2000 mAH X .002 = 4 amp (setting on the charger)

I strongly recommend not following this suggestion. You should always charge your battery at the lowest amperage that time will permit.

1.0-1.5A is a much more reasonable charge rate. Batteries are expensive, and there's no point nuking one just because you're in a rush - a toast battery isn't any more useful than an empty battery.

this is why you charge batteries a few days ahead. So you have time to charge them.

I just plugged in a Sanyo 9.6V 2400mah nicad's battery for the first time, I have set it to Fuzzy Logic charge, I wonder when will I know when the charge is complete?

....also what is that current adjustment, I just left it to the lower rate which is 0.5 A is that OK?....what is the purpose of that current adjustment knob do I need to change it all the time?...Thank you
