read the FAQ please. By reading this you'll understand that airsoft guns cannot be imported from abroad (wether it be the US or anywhere else).

That being said, even if you see it priced lower on "websites", if they are not canadian websites than you cannot take those prices into account.

Also, be aware that you have to be 18 to purchase AND play airsoft in Canada. We will not help you acquire guns if you are not age verified. SO we basicaly cannot tell you if this is a good deal or not, sorry.

I would be skeptical buying this gun on craigslist. Why don't you get age verified first and check out the retailers on here and / or the classified section.

Please fill out your profile, state your age, and introduce yourself in the Newbie Tank.

You're not exactly making a very good first impression.

Until you are age verified you will find that people are not going to be very helpful. Don't take this personally. It's only used as a means to protect our hobby and sport. Once you are age verified you can purchase new guns from our Canadian retailers that already have these items in country( so you won't have to worry about customs taking your gun). We also have a great classified section available to our AV'd members where you are able to purchase guns from respected members of the community.

Personally I'd hold off on the Craig's list slut gun until you can get a chance to see what this community has to offer... the person selling the gun should have provide more details and if not, there's a good chance they don't know them or they have left them out for a reason. If you just want something to play with in the back yard for around 80.00 go to walmart. If you are considering airsoft as a sport or hobby then wait.

**edit*** I should also add if you ever want to be taken seriously when it comes to responding to an ad, never offer 1/4 of the asking price. I can tell you from my own experience nothing has infuriated me more.

It's actually fine to be underaged and play BUT only if the local community supports it. I know of 4 places where minors are welcome. "EASY Group" (Edmonton Airsoft Youth), Ambush Anonymous (I think they go by a new name now), Low Shotz, and Fraser Valley Airsoft Assn. Other places it's generally on a case by case basis. For example BCAirsoft Club allows minors but Op For Airsoft Club only runs "youth days" once in a while and it's generally 18+.

For all intents and purposes though you should consider airsoft being 18+ and younger only on a case by case basis.

PS: There is sometimes an age restriction for paintball but it depends on what the insurance policy for the field is. I think it may be 12+ most of the time but other times 14+ or 16+, again it all depends on the insurance policy of the field in question (younger age and higher FPS limits = higher premiums for the field generally, but they may be able to recover costs depending on the target audience, popularity, and such).

The major reason is to protect the sport. The difference between paintball and airsoft is our guns can much more easily be confused by Law Enforcement as a real firearm. The reason for the 18+ rule is that when your 18 your legally responsible for your own actions and under the eyes of the law are supposed to be mature enough to handle the responsibility of owning a firearm/replica.

Airsoft is in a much more grey area of the law then paintball is. The basic idea is we are trying to protect the sport we love and have spend thousands of dollars on. Ever hear of SB798? All that started when a 13 yr old challeneged Police with a fake gun and was shot to death as a result. We dont want here.

Death2000 kind of touched on it but also once you get age verified you get access to the buy/sell portion of the forums. In essence we've basically self policed ourselves so that we're only selling to other adults and not some kid with mommy or daddys credit card or whatever (Note that you must meet in person for AV info to be taken down, no exceptions).

Sure there's always craigslist and stuff like that ad you found but we can't control that, however a lot of the times you don't really know what you're getting and usually people selling there don't know much about the product or could be actively looking to rip you off.

NB: Prices are higher in Canada due to duties/shipping/other business costs (in the order of 1.5-2.5X cost from overseas) but if you're paying $400 for something that's only worth $100.... then yeah....

PS: Good luck, and if you do scenario or milsim paintball then you should kind of be about half way there with gear and stuff. You just need a few pieces of airsoft oriented equipment and you'll be good to go for joining in. Also, please don't play in the woods like you're doing right now..... It's luck that you didn't get caught yet but luck always runs out and sometime you're going to get caught. Like that time I was going to get a bit intimate with my ex in a common area in the apartment but her roommates came back to the apartment early..... I was like ಠ_ಠ cockblocked.....

Provincial legislation forbids sales of unregulated firearms to minors.

As ASC is based in Ontario where this law exists ( though most provinces have the same law) and ASC permits and facilitates the sale of airsoft guns through the site, a reasonable measure to ensure sales to minors did not happen was required.

Hence to gain access to the areas of the site that offer guns for sale you need to verify that you are over 18.
