DS Arms SA58 Para (OSW)
So I've recently started diggin' this thing. IRL? Badass supreme. I've always preferred .308 guns as opposed to .223. In airsoft however it seems nobody really makes this gun except for Classic Army. And it seems to suck balls.
It's got 270 FPS (which is rather low, I prefer at least 300 in a carbine rifle), and a PEQ batt. pack. If it wasn't for those 2 things I'd probably grab it. I've been researching and unable to find a suitable similar gun without those 2 things. I figure I either have to wait till someone figures out a way to jam a battery in the body, or makes it a GBB. I was also debating just taking the full-stock version and buying a rail'd handguard, but I'm really keen on the skeleton stock. Anyone know if any other companies have this gun or are working on it? Thanks! PS: I'm looking for something like this:

I think you can get a lipo in the handguard if you want to drop the PEQ box.
From what I hear the only real downer is there's nothing but high-caps so far. 7.62 flavor GBBRs are still pretty thin on the ground.

Yeah. Maybe that'd help on that non-issue

Different websites claim different things, i've seen 250-360 fps being claimed through the websites and the reviews provided by customers.... I've also heard horror stories about working on them.

You gotta have the big mag, that's 50% of the deal right there!

I want a few of the long ones for my KA. Though if I recall correctly, they aren't compatible. Hmmn...

If I can get my hands on one, I could probably figure something out... or at worst find someone who could. No idea how the two stack up to one another though, or what's different that keeps them from being interchangeable.
It'd be nice if KA would just come out with some long midcaps and save the hassle, they look awesome. |

Thanks Kaos. Looking my KA over, it appears to be modeled after the metric FAL, though the mag lip matches the inch magazine in those pictures. Not sure if that's just a liberty taken for ease of seating or something.
My Google Fu is either failing me, or the information is hidden away in a deep vault, but I can find no information regarding whether the CA mags will fit the KA. Easy to find lots of talk about the KA mags not fitting the CA, but no mention of the opposite. Only info comparing the two at all is a two year old post here from Wildcard noting that KA mags are a little thinner. I'm awfully curious now... Sorry for the bit of a hijack. |

I'm terribly curious too, I've heard of some people taking real mags and modding them for the KA FAL but nothing about CA to KA or vice versa.
As long as the mag feeds in the same area, I believe it to work. Now whether or not the mag stays in, is another question. Anyways, on topic though. With a bit of work, you can get the CA OSW FAL shooting whatever you want, however you want (within relative reason of course). Sure sure, bit more money going into the gun, but if it's your dream baby, it's worth it. Unfortunately not many people pop out FALS, so what is out there, is out there.

Regardless, the PEQ pack is just... lamezors. I'm not terribly keen on shoving a battery in there right next to the barrel, nor am I keen on rewiring shit (I'm no electronics expert), but good ideas guys, merits investigation.

roommate's got a ca sa58 and i have to say the stock build is pretty awesome. there's an air leak with the stock nozzle, but there's a guide online on how to mod an AUG one to make a slightly longer version of the stock one. easy peasy. i heard going to a sig nozzle works too. anyway, it's shooting over 400 (dmr) with stock internals holding up nicely.
cosmetically it's fantastic, nice and heavy (way heavier than the ka builds with much more solid handguards) only issue is the cocking lever doesnt pull the fake bolt back anymore because the connector broke off from that gorilla clack spring they've got in there. if you cut it down and operate it gently there shouldnt be an issue. i say go for it, it's a damn wicked gun. here it is with my m14, installed a ka rail system and a barrel extension. bunch of other externals.
