can an m4 carry handle fit on a mp5?

If you got a claw mount and did it that way yes...

would it even work? and by work i mean be able see the front sight thru the carry handle?

With a claw mount, sure. But there's no purpose for it. You can't use the integrated sight in the M4 handle, and it will block access to the MP5s iron sights. Would be kind of useless to do that.
