CONAIR Lens Protector :)

This is a temporary/fun fix, for high quality optic protection see Amos lens protector thread:
Amos' amazingly awesome Lens Protectors

Today I broke my girlfriend's air dryer when it fell.

picking up the parts, i noticed there is a grid in the front end:

and oh surprise!

guess what I'm going to do to avoid this:

I'll post the results...
do you think the grid is too thick for some use on a scope? I'll try.

That is a really good idea. Can't wait to see the results.

Looks a little thick, but thats really unexpected place to find a lense protector. Think you can take the grill off and place a tougher lense in there?

mh, I like this grid. I was thinking of slicing the tip of the plastic tube with the grid and adapting it on my scope or light..

hmm, the grill wires look pretty tough, but mayb a bb travelling at 400fps might be enough to dent through it and still make it to the lens? Would look sick after tho, like Off roading light covers.

Better than the alternative of a broken lens. At the very least the grill will slow it down so that the lens has less of a chance of breaking.

Yeah, but just because a bb can sit on top of it, doesnt mean it couldnt bush through on a lucky shot.. Still deters the chance of a broken lense so I think thats a great idea, git r done and show us!

I never really considered protecting the flashlight glass but thinking about it, first thing you shoot at in a night or low light game is the flashlight when it's turn on.

If you're lucky enough not to break your girlfriend's hair dryer, you can ask me or Amos to cut you a clear polycarbonate disk to protect your light.

I could make you a proper sized protector that can withstand a .22 pellet gun at 800 FPS...

A BB will likely pass right through that mesh if shot at...

I know, but this one is free, available home, and it's going to keep me occupied for a while

:P At least shoot at the mesh first to see if all your effort will pay off
