Guarder C8 mag compatibility?
Hey all, ok so i've just plonked a Guarder C8 body on my TM M4, and my STAR mags just won't fit, unless i take a file to both the inside of the magwell and the sides of the mags themselves. Anyone know which mags are 100% compatible? Very frustrating..

Tight magwell is common on guarder recievers so you need to file it down. If I can find my didgicam I'll send you the images so you will have the idea where to do the mod.

Ok so i managed to file down and dremel the mag well, and the mags slide in just fine. If anyone is interested, the raised sections on the forward two corners and the rear two corners need to be taken down by about 1mm or so...i also did the front section just abit to give a little more room. I can take pics, just pm me.

My Guarder C8 has no problems with STAR Mags, Tho the KA HK Highcap is a little tighter than id like it to be.

Don't over file and there are certain areas where you don't want to file in the magwell. I made this mistake and it was a pain in the ass trying to get mags to feed properly after. I ended up using a piece of fine velcro (hook side) in the magwell to kindof re-shim it so mags would feed properly. Just saying to be careful when filling, err on the side of caution because keep in mind it will naturally get roomier with time and loading mags. Less is more.

Im ordering the KA Metal OD realcap mags.
Im hoping that maybe the mags will fit better tho it looks like since my HK Marking highcap wont fit, im gonna have a problem. Not a huge fan of filing either tho :/ +1 on reference request please. I got my metal body installed, but since my gearbox is out of the shell and im waiting for parts, now would be the time to do any work on it. C8 bodys are HARD to get, so i dont wanna screw it up :s |

One more question.
Ive been reading reviews and tutorials on gettign these C8 bodies to work, places you have to file down and such. Looking at the pictures and then looking at my C8 body, it would appear that theres 2 different versions and mines the 'newwer' version. I never had to file nearly as many things on the body to get it to fit, just the tabs a bit. So the next question is, is this 'new gen' C8 body more accomodating to mags? Funny as it may sound, I have the gun almost nearly completed, but not a single mag for it to test with. |
