hopup packing comparison
between the systema and guarder hopup packing/bucking/rubber/whatever you wanna call it, which is superior? I thought I'd ask before sunday but I can always test it out on the field.

Guarder has two of them, which one are you referring to? (One is black, the other is translucent.)

translucent
i opened them up, i figure i'll use the tougher guarder sleeve in my G3 and the softer systema sleeve in my much lower fps UMP Last edited by ThunderCactus; June 4th, 2007 at 18:16.. |

Does using different brands of Hop-up packing (over say, stock TM packing) have any noticeable positive effect on the BB's flightpath?

i've tried guarder, stock TM and stock G&G, and yes it does make a difference at long ranges.
the stiffness of the packing dictates how consistent the flight path of each BB will be, the G&G packing was soft and deformed differently after each shot so it was hard to get a good shot off |

The softer bucking's for lower FPS. I've actually had very consistent shots at around 380fps on the Guarder clear. The softer stuff seem to adjust with much more finesse than the stiffer bucking.

The transluscent Guarder is actually the softer one.
I only really recommend them for <380fps. They're super sticky and perform well, but due to the softness of the material, I find that they wear down too quick. |

I agree with Illusion on that. Does anyone have any qualitative testing on the new Madbull one with the H Bucking? I am still in the stages of getting my Pro-win up, so I still havn't had a chance to do any kind of really high FPS testing for it yet.

I haven't handled the Madbull one, but there's a recent thread somewhere on this forum where a bunch of guys were discussing the Madbull hop up with the "X" packing and the general consensus was that it sucked. I don't think I saw one positive review in the discussion.
I use the Big-Out H-Hop in almost all of my AEGs. Combined with a KM RH-type hop-up, I get pretty good results. Otherwise, I've just resorted to Systema hop up rubbers. I was never a great fan of the Guarder ones, after destroying 7 of the translucent ones in less than one season. |

There were a couple discussions over at Arnies about the Madbull, too. Don't recall particularly positive reviews. Something about the H nub being too soft to work properly.

Well, I had read the other post involving them, but I hadn't seen anything actually quantative, so I thought I would ask the Smiths that Actually knew there stuff instead of the general airsoft population, we know how they are.
While on the topic of rubbers and buckings, I would really wouldn't reccomend the PGC Hard type Rubber. I find if jams up my mech box, weather its in a pro-win or in any other kind of hop-up. Don't know if its the pair of them I have, or all of them, but havn't had too much success with them.

The PGC hard hop up rubber, although stated for M130 or stronger springs, I find don't work well even at M130. I have greater success with M150 or stronger. |

Geez. A M150! Where would you need that in Canada? Where could you use that in Canada?

The Guarder black hopup bucking works very well, but you need atleast 350 fps to use it effectively. I tried it on an AEG firing 310, it made the hop up extremely consistant but did lower the weapons effective range quite abit as it just didnt have the power for that hopup stiffness
