I only saw Gas Gun Care unless Tools and Maintenance of AEGs is buried deep somewhere on 1 of those stickies...read about half way through that and Airsoft Newbie Buying Guide – Guns and Gears. But is maintenance going to be the same from gun to gun? I doubt theres much internal proprietaryness (if that is even a word) between P90s from TM vs CA vs Echo1 but how much will it differ from say an M4, G36K, or L85A1 other then were all the guts are located? Also, whats the shelf life of a battery as in "how many years of use before it won't hold a charge anymore"?

I'm sorry to be asking so many of what seems to be noob questions but I don't see much in terms of Maintenance or generally what do you do after so many years of owning an AEG. Most stickies in the FAQs are related to beginnings, where to buy, upgrading/modding, and legal issues and google hasn't found much either and is basically the same.

for the p90, you NEED a allan key set, most of the screws on the body are allan's.

TM P90 and its clones are the only AEGs that use TM's version 6 mechbox. Most people have guns that use version 2 and 3.

That really depends on cell quality and how often you charge/discharge it.

As I was recently in the same situation as headless chicken, i did purchase a TM p90 off the classified. Being new to the sport i was impressed with its performance for a stock gun, as were the guys i regularly play with. So for a starter gun i don't think you can go wrong. That is just my opinion.

This gun you cannot go wrong, its easy to tinker with and just PM if you have any Version 6 or an other P90 Building as its easy

As for tools ShelledPants pretty much says it all

As for the tools I used 3 sets of items

1 Cross Screw Set
1 Allen Key set
1 G&P Lubrication set (ehobby or other online airsoft places

yeah. Not a bad little gun I suppose, just not my personal cup of tea, mostly for it's physical appearance. Simply making a joke.

I've seen TM P90s in action, they're ROF and performance is amazing.
Yes as others have said, the mags are expensive. Thing that sucks is you can't import the low caps since they have bullets in them. So it would be much harder to find extra mags for them. Airsoftparts.ca has 1 left. Ask Jugglez on ASC to get him to order more.

As a starter gun, sure. It will last you for long if you treat it good.
Building a gun up is much harder since you're new to this.
Save yourself the trouble and get one stock.
But I remembered there was a class for AEG gearbox, and stuff for beginners? They teach you how to maintain, and fixing problems and such. Was this at TTAC?

I've learnt best from personal experience and watching videos at mechbox.xom over and over. That site has been a life saver, video tutorials is the best way to learn.

Maybe it's just me, but one thing I noticed about bullpups (and the P90 and FA-MAS in particular) is that they seem to have a magical ability to hit targets at long range.

Thats because, from what I've been reading, that bullpup designs allow for a longer barrel for such a short weapon and long barrels usually mean accuracy over range. I'm getting it more for because I'm a fan of Stargate plus I love the design since doing some research into the real deal. Its also 1 of my favorite rushing weapons in CoD4 and my favorite secondary for Rainbox Six Vegas 2.

Worst reasons to buy any airsoft gun.

Buy for performance, reliability, and practicality first. Once you have a decent primary down to game with, then purchase for "personal" reasons. IMO

Agreed. If you intend to actually play, then a solid, reliable AEG that will give you maximum advantage on the field is the preferable choice. Once you have that, then you can go nuts on the "I'm getting it because I like Stargate" thing. Now if you're primarily a collector, then it doesn't matter.
