Newb needs help!
Hey all!
Well, I just got reciently interested in the airsoft stuff and I'm not afraid to spend a little money on it. First of all, I need to choose a gun. I want a pistol because I think they would be fun. (Whats the most fun gun to shoot?). I was looking at this one. http://www.tokyo-model.com.hk/trade/productview/835 Is this a good choice for a begineer? Also I would like to buy locally, I live in Halifax and I"m going up to Ottawa on friday, so any stores that you guys can reccomend? Also what else would I need to get started? |

Yeah, I read it a lot of the topics there, I know the basics I need like the goggles and stuff I was just curious about upgrades and what you thought about the gun. And where I could get one at around the 2 places I am going to.

Ok, I'll bite.
Don't get a pistol as your first gun. They arn't often used and are really only good in CQB. If you want to play any woodland battles or anything over 30-ish ft range a pistol is useless. For your first gun, buy an AEG. Personally I would recommend a Classic Army gun, I have a CA G36 and I love it, awsome first gun. Other brands to consider are Tokyo Marui and ICS, though TM guns only have plastic bodies whereas ICS and CA are metel (well, if the real gun is metel). TM's are reliable as hell though. As for where to buy them, your best bet is probably to get age verified and look in the classifieds here on the forum. I believe the only store you can actually walk into and buy an AEG is A&A Surplus, and they're in Manitoba. You really only have 3 options for buying airsoft guns right now. It's advisable before you buy though to go out to a game and see what people have, hold some rifles, and see what feels comfortable. /spoonfeeding

Forget about springers. The GBB (Gas Blow-back) version of the TM pistol you want is excellent, as is the KSC. KSC also make some very good Glocks. As kalnaren said, Classic Army (CA) make some superb AEGs. You said you weren't afraid to spend a little money. Does the prospect of spending a couple of thousand give you pause? Click on "Canadian Retailers" at the top of the page and you'll see A&A Surplus and 007 Airsoft. They sell guns as does www.buyairsoft.ca. Don't even think about importing a gun and asking here about how to do it will get you flamed back to the Stone Age. If you're 18 or over you can get age-verified in Ottawa and then you'll be able to buy from the ASC classifieds. Just look for the Age-Verification thread in the Forums. The suggestions that you read, read and read some more are sage advice.

if this gun is what you mean by "not afraid to spend a little money" then you might want to think twice about diving into this sport
for skirmishes, the most effective type would be AEGs |

Not Eye Safe, Pretty Boy Maximus on the field take his picture!

35$? i spend more on individual mag pouches
age verify ASAP, fill out profile, and look for an AEG in the used section if you dont wanna spend boatloads of money |
