sights
Hey guys, which from of sight do you think is better: ACOG Vs. Red Dot
I play probably 50/50 CQB and woodland and run an m4 (380 fps looking to upgrade). The ACOG is a bit cheaper and can come with variable zoom but the red dot sight makes target acquisition easier (at least for CQB) but a bit more expensive. |

BTW this is the wrong section
and.... red dot made by a tasco because it can be put on a gas rifle and vice versa and are you getting the real one? or a replica? go read about the bad stuff on replica and forgot to mention, this will be able to put on a real firearm and cost 50 dollars plus while a replica (good one) will maybe put you about 500 and over?(haven't checked the price in a while) and this is also has a ballistic quality on it

If you play CQB, get an Aimpoint or any other red-dot.
Acogs are small scope to ranged engagements. The replica Acog that is a red-dot is stupid IMO. And don't upgrade your rifle. 380fps is plenty. I'd even drop it to 350fps so it's CQB rule ready.

If you're running an AEG, get yourself an Aimpoint or EOTech replica. I've tried both, and I've found that an EOTech replica is good for CQB, and an Aimpoint is great for both CQB and longer-range shots due to the smaller dot compared to the larger reticle on the EOTech.
If you're making shots that would require the zoom of an ACOG, you can always get a 3X magnifier with an FTS(flip-to-side) mount, as they'll work with both an Aimpoint or an EOTech. |

Get a Comp M2 or a Comp M4.
Or a EOTech, I find zoom useless in CQB. Where as Red dot is excellent for both.

OR you could get an ACOG with 4x and a Doctor red dot sight on top. Either way, most ACOG replicas with zoom also come with iron sights fixed at the top.
I dunno where the "up to $500" came from, as I bought a real EOTech 551 for $350 on this site and the clones go from $30-70 usually. I also have a G&P 553 and it's pretty close to what I wanted without buying a real EOTech.

I recommend a Aimpoint T1 replica, something like the DyTac one, very nicely sized package and works great for CQB or outdoors!

Or you could get a SpecterDR, it's great, it's what I have.
Or you could get an EOTech. I also have that, it's great. Or you could also get a variable zoom scope like an M3. I have that, it's awesome. Or there's Aimpoint T1 micro's - I have that too. It's nice. In total, I have around a dozen different optics... ALL of which, "are great." I have fixed magnifying, variable magnifying, 1x-4x quick switch, electronic optics, fluorescent optics, reflex optics, red dot, green dot, holographic... and each one is good for a specific set of uses. It comes down to YOUR individual use, and more importantly, what you like the look of. ... as you can see, asking "which optic should I get?" for airsoft use will get you as definitive an answer as you'd had to start with. You'll eventually figure out that picking an optic for airsoft use is more about what you like the looks of, than it is about functionality. You'll also find that many guys with iron sights can shoot just as well as with electronic optics. Figure it out for yourself.

A GREAT starting point though is...an Aimpoint M3. Plain, good old reliable setup. Typically good optics, good clear (relative) aiming dot...decent battery life. You can easily add a 3x magnifier to that...and with a QD or flip to the side mount you can switch between magnified and non-magnified quickly (not that I've ever had too). Be sure to buy two rings/mounts of the same make and model. Clone mounts are notorious for being different heights and some are off center this way and that way...so it can make it a challenge to line optics up over the center of the bore if you're mixing and matching stuff. Anyways...I typically shoot with plain old iron sights now...don't really miss the optics one bit and there's no batteries to run out or worry that it's been knocked out of alignment, etc... |
