Opinion on first aeg

Ok, I'm finally getting some money so I'm gonna FINALLY get my first aeg. Now I asked before and most people said go used. Well I thought about it and decided IF i have the money I will go buy new.

I really want to go with VFC because I heard about there really good quality control and externals. If im gonna go brand new, might as well get a nice one...

Now the question which rifle would be more recommended

VFC scar series or M4 (I think its the E series)

NO i am not asking which is BETTER. I am merely asking which is a wiser choice in terms of upgrades, down the road, batteries etc...

Still better option to buy used and modify from there. Yes, you are getting an all metal AEG if you get that shiny new VFC, but then you've spent almost $700.00 and have no extra magazines, vert grip, RDS or anything else you might want on your blaster. At least if you buy a used M4 off the classifieds, you are getting an upgraded AEG; remember that even though the VFC may shoot hotter than most stock AEGs, all you have are stock internals with a different spring. It would be better to spend $700.00 and get an all metal M4 with RIS, a handful of mags, possibly some optics and most likely a TBB and at least an aftermarket hop-up.

I'm not sure about the m4, and I'm also not sure if the vfc is different, but modding the gearbox on the dboys scar is hell because the ambi fire fire selector. You literally have to bend the body, get the gears to disengage, and putting it back in is obnoxious too. Another thing is the scar has like a 6" barrel..

2 of my buddies just got them. After handling them I have a few things to say about them.

External quality is great, extremely solid rifle, good weight, feels durable. How durable it actually is, is a question only answered by time.

It is their E-series, so it have a clear plastic hop-up instead of a metal one. Once again, time will tell.

They seem to have a problem fitting with King Arms mags. As in, the mags just fall out.

Not sure about disassembly. You have to take out the mag catch in order to get to the mechbox, but when I looked at the rifle, there was no discernible way to take it out. No hex screw, nothing.

They're both excellent rifles, It's up to you which one you prefer. M4 is a lot more customizable than the SCAR.

Actually the VFC SCAR L has a 38cm barrel.

Internally they should both be the same, same version mechbox made by the same company. So there should be no difference in regards to putting one part in one compared to putting the same in the other when it comes to mechboxes. Barrel set up and hopups will also be different in each unit. However both hopups do the same thing its not like one uses a bumper to create BB back spin and the other uses magic and laser beams.

Both AEGs have rail systems with plenty if space to mount all your accessories.
The M4 has a leg up on the Scar for external modification as more parts are available to customize the M4's appearance.

As for batteries, I dont understand what you are asking. Quality battery packs exist for both models and can be sourced from independent battery retailers who can create and customize a pack to your precise needs.

In a sense neither is better than the other, they are essentially the same internal functioning device just housed in a difference casing. Pro's and cons exist for both and vary depending on each persons opinion.

Pick which ever one you think looks better.

Personally Im looking into purchasing the VFC Scar either L or CQC.

They are basically an M4 with a fancy body on them. In terms of internal qualitiy they are VFC and they make pretty darn good rifles.

priced at 650 ish shipped they are reasonable in price and lowcaps are dirt cheap. If you want to buy new, then do it. But to make sure your going to like it I suggest you hit up a game first and check them out just to be certain.

Man, I say go for the scar, its sexy (ignore the haters) Its EQUALLY upgradeable both internally and its railed so you can add all the gizmo's externally. it uses the same mags as the m4 so finding them is easy.

Cheers.

the mag release has no external screws or pins, u actualy unscrew the arm from the release button .

Then u have to remove the pin holding the bolt release arm and remove that then select semi with the fire selector pull one body pin and the gear box lifts out

I guess it's important to consider your budget before you dish out anything for a gun - new or used. Is this your first gun in general?

Oh man i completely forgot i started this...

I'd really like new becuase I dont like buying used anything, but I know I will save alot of money...i guess its whether i see a good deal or not.

as for comparision of scar vs. M4 I just wanted general opinion about VFC m4s and scars specifically. I was under the impression M4 was E series so maybe the scar has slightly better internals.

thanks for the info

I know that if I give you advice, I will be biased since Im a sucker for M4's. I had the privilege in holding up a VFC M4 during TAC10 and it is beautiful. The trades/engravings and finish is beautiful, very sturdy, very solid, and no rattling. The receiver is nice and smooth with a matt black finish. It beats Classic Army hands down. Its pretty much on par with G&P IMO. In terms of internal components, Im not sure. Here are some pics that I took:
