Err guys he's not asking whether shipping mags are ok, he's asking about whether it's ok for his dad to put mags in his luggage to bring back on a plane. I don't know the answer but it's something I would not do. Why have the hassle of having to explain yourself or have your stuff searched, shipping mags (especially if you buy a box of mags or large quantities) is not that much.
What do you think a security guard or customs officer think if they saw gun magazines through the X-Ray? |

just have your dad ship it to you man..
i already told you there is a risk.. i would save myself the hassle and order from retailers above ^ referring to the last post above. my predictions are: his dad gets handcuffed first. put into a room where he will be asked questions, and have the rest of his luggage searched possibility 1: they figured the items he was carrying wasn't illegal at all and they cant do anything about it possibility 2: they take the mags even though they aren't illegal to import by the time your dad is let out/released, he probably would have missed his plane. I decided to get the mags shipped seperately,
The reason why i asked was because im ordering a crapload of other stuff, and the customs charges on them all would be huge, so i was gonna have it shipped to my dad's US office, but then i kinda changed my mind cause i dont really trust the company i was trying to order from. (AEGARMS has no reviews, no phone #, no address, only email. Not gona give my CC# to them and risk losing everything) |

I have imported alot of stuff from EAsia and about one of every five things that come in get duty tacked on. Not a bad average.

Razcal, there is a huge difference in importing stuff by mail or courier services, and bringing them in yourself on a plane.

You can bring real fire-arms along with you if you are taking a plane to a location. Call a head as each airport has their own procedures for fire-arms in the building. All firearms will have to meet transport regulations ((locked the hell up and MUST be a hard shell case that is hard to get into)). As well it will be placed in checked luggage. As I said different airports have different procedures, some like you to goto a security check in office, some have their regular check ins trained to handle them.
However, having gone out to the coast to hunt with my mothers side of the family a few times; I can tell you from experience its much easier to have your arms shipped than to take them along. At the loss/delay rate of luggage on plane versus shipping rates, its actually safer to have it shipped two weeks in advance. The second time I took it on the plane, it ended up being 7 days late getting to me, because I had to wait for a plane that was going back to the previous stop off airport and coming back, mind you it was a remote location to make it 7 days, but all the hassle gone through to bring my favorite hunting rifle along was useless as I got ONE days hunt using it. Since, I've just started shipping it out two weeks in advance as it gets there usually a week in advance to me, which is more than enough time for one of my uncles to check it over and make sure nothing has shifted/broke in transit on me, and since neither have happened before as I just ship it packed into a hard case thats packed into a box its perfectly safe. EDIT: Above is with IN Canada. Going across the border has a lot more paper work and fuss to it, that I no longer bring a rifle going down to hunt in the states no more. I just rent when I get there. In the arctic its funny, cause you can get on the plane with out a word, and then you get off the plane in Yellowknife to go through security, its really quite funny.

A little off topic, just thought I would throw it in here instead of making a new thread, I was told recently mags with fake rounds (ex G36)are now illegal in Canada and can no longer be imported by retailers?

That's been beaten to hell in other threads. Do a searchy.

The other threads deal with importing them personally and shipping them within Canada. That's not what I asked.

The big question is, why risk any inconvenience or wasted money when mags are available in Canada?

when i'll get my g36 im gonna try to get a c-mag for it. i have done some search and canada as only 1 retailer that sell it. And that retailer sell it for double the price it really worth. This thread was really informative since i'll have to ask myself those question too sooner or later.
