My New Toy!

I had the privilege of shooting a few rounds out of it the night he got it Very beautiful gun...the bolt action is very smooth and it is relatively quiet while firing. I love it, I didn't want to put it down...but unforchanetly I had to hand it back to it's owner. I would love to buy one but, it is so big for me it was like mini me trying to fire an M16. Defantly give it a 10+++ on a scale of 1-10!

I bought it from Mr. Jon. I need to get high scope mounts for it as the forward zoom adjustment is sitting against the barrel. Although I will probably get a flash killer for it once I find a place that sells them.

Glue a bunch of straws together to size, then cut a slice off to fit inside your scope's objective lense and spray paint it flat black, and insert.

LOL!!! You can't be serious? You know how gay that would look? I'd be better spray painting the lens black! LMAO!!! But thanks for the suggestion CDN. Maybe down the road I'll make a home made redneck sniper rifle and incorporate that idea.

It works and makes an effective honeycomb to reduce glare. And it's dirt cheap. Dunno if you want the extender tube for looks, or an effective killflash, but having a honeycomb on the lense is the same as the bigboys use. If it's made out of straws, same deal. If it's painted black, and is cheap yet works......... how can it be gay? Didn't say paint it like rainbox salad or anything.

What would be the spacing between the straws? Being as straws are round and would obscure sight, would you actually have a good view without obstruction? I would figure the spacing of the straws would be crucial for viewing.

Just use regular drinking straws, say 1/4" big, glue together into a honeycomb.

Speaking of reduced FOV, did you ever see that pic of USMC snipers in Iraq where the sniper had a chunk of cardbaord shoved into the front of his scope, and had a cut out about 1/4" wide by 1" long? Is to protect the optics and reduce glare........... think he's be using it if it reduced the effectiveness of his scope at all?

Hey man, am just suggesting a cheap killflash that is used by some real steel shooters, not a joke. Like I said, all you need is a slice 1/2" thick to fit in your objective lense, it'll reduce glare and look cool as well without costing you a large chunk of cash.

Saw it a couple times, last time was in a recent issue of Soldier of Fortune. Wish I knew how to find it, it's a pretty cool pic.

No worries about laughing at me, a lot of the most effective ideas started as very cheap solutions then evolved into great products. Best thing about that process, doing it cheap & simple has about the same effect as buying the product, great for soldiers in a bind.

BTW, just checked out your inital thread, good looking rifle. I see you tried the poorman's chrony. I'd like for yo uto do a test for me so I can roughly compare my results with yours. Take an empty tuna can, set it about 30ft away on it's side and shoot it. I tried that with both my CA M24 (was shooting around 515fps w/0.20g) and my KJW M700, using both duster and propane. All shots made with 0.36g, my M24 and the M700 on duster both left a rather deep dent on the bottom of the can, pretty much equal, but using propane in my M700 it blew right through the can. Have chronied both types of gases in my M700 at around 30C, after levelling out the pressure with propane it sits around 550fps and with duster around 450fps (w/0.20g).

I was kinda thinking in regards to what to use for the kill flash. Insted of using straws, use skewers and glue them together. Might be a bit more sturdier than using straws. I'll try that, got lot of those sitting in the kitchen cupboard collecting dust.
