Two questions.

I'm curious what your opinion is on the plastic lowers on the WE 1911s that were sold in the GTA until recently. I'm still holding on to one I won in a charity raffle, and it actually had a fracture crack on the front of the lower frame right out of the box (sadly!), but is super satisfying to shoot... Is failure on the cansoft WEs inevitable, preventable... possibly overblown?

Secondly, I am very tempted to get my hands on some of these newly-imported "full metal" WE pistols, especially the hi-capa compatible ones, that have started to show up lately via the long-barrel trick... Do you think these are a decent investment at the current prices?

Do you mean Hicapa's? Or actual 1911's?

Plastic frames are fine in 1911's (TM's original design was made for plastic frame, metal rails), however plastic frames in Hicapas are not. Hicapas were never meant to have plastic frames, TM designed them with a metal frame.

But WE 1911s dont use the same design as the TM ones. The TM has an internal frame where all the internals rest, and where all the stress points are. The plastic frame is a low stree part.

On a WE the frame is where all the internals are. Its where the hammer and sear are mounted. Just like on the hi capas.

Just wanted to chime in my two cents...

I have a Socom Gear MEU (modern 1911), been gaming it for two years now and haven't had a single problem...in spite of it falling out of the holster at Rhino :-S

I would recommend it to any 1911 lover

I have a Socom Gear Wilson CQB etc. so your basic single stack 1911 built by WE.

3 years on it and while its paint rubs off with a hard look it still shoots great, mags have never leaked and it has a very nice crisp trigger.

Thanks, this clears up some of my confusion.
