What you say is true but I think he is not going for the real deal but for a replica and most 553 replicas use AAAs while 552 replicas use AAs.

They're both the same as far as reticle goes (unless you go from an early generation to the most current, but it's minor).

And batteries last a long time, you might not even use 1 set in an entire season.

The OP did ask about Eotech 551 or 552, not "clone of Eotech 551 or 552".

Not everyone has clones.

Ah, fair enough - I didn't know that the 553 repros used AAAs. The real 552s use AAs as well. However, even good rechargeables don't last particularly long - I tend to recharge them after every session since the "low battery" pulsing reticle shows up. No idea how long it takes to drain them after that occurs.
