SRC G36c

I'm looking for a secondary gun, mainly for if my main goes down or I want to bring a friend along to a game.

There's a person selling a SRC G36c does anyone know about the gun, if I should buy it or not?

Does anyone know if it's compatible with other parts like TM?

I rate SRC pretty low in terms of compatibility.. some things are oddly offspec with them.. the g36 in particular. If you were to put an SRC and an ARES in front of me, I would be hard pressed to tell you which one I hate more.

the hopup and magwell are not TM clones, it's difficult to find an upgrade hopup unit that will work with it, if at all. The rest I think are ok, but I've dealt with an SRC armalite that was not spec and the upper receiver was warped from the factory, so if one model can be made badly offspec, another one can be just as bad.

The JG would be a far better choice as a g36 backup/loaner, it's well priced and about 95% TM compatible, the newer ones have an interesting hopup design though, but I have not read anything bad about them. The nozzle is longer than TM. The newer JGs are supposed to have nylon fiber bodies which everyone else except TM has. nylon fiber is stronger than standard abs.

The ares I hate by virtue of being an ares, but the parts are more to TM spec, as you can put a tm hop aftermarket hop in it with some work, the magwell is the same as the tm, unlike the src. The other issue is the microswitch in the gearbox instead of a standard mechanical trigger. Left stock, it's probably fine, but replacing it if it breaks might be an issue. Also the gearbox shell itself is proprietary, as is the spring guide and the hopup is sort of like the tm but not, but the parts that matter on it seem to be the same as the tm.

The classic army is also about 95% tm cloned, there's a few odd/off measurements with the hopup that I'm still investigating. aluminum TM upgrade drop in hopup units didn't easily drop in... and I never could get the lonex unit to work in my CA. The metal SHS unit oddly works perfectly after you dremel a channel for the front gearbox screw mount to pass through.

cyma also makes a g36 now as well or at least, you can get it now.. I think that's abs, but for the most part it's a tm clone.

So in short, all the g36s on the market have at least 1 thing not TM spec.

The nozzle issue seems to be on and off. The last one I worked on had a regular length nozzle.

I pretty much agree with everything said so far: SRC is pricey, and has some oddball bits/assembly details that will make you pull your hair out. Oh, and if you are unfortunate enough to get the clearsoft version, the clear plastic breaks the first time you tighten/untighten the screws! ARES...well, read my "note of caution" post in this forum to get an idea of what you might be in for if you buy an ARES.
So far, the best G36 I have bought was my KWA....that thing has been a BB hose so far! Completely stock, minus a few bits here and there (magpul mags, hop up rubber), and has never failed

That my two cents, take for it what it is worth.
