i belive if the cells die to a certain point and are left they can actually reverse polarity, this was the case with one of my batterys anyways, but what you have to do is jump per say each individual cell with 12 volts to get them correctly polarized.
note: i am not held resposible if you end up killing your already dead battery! lol
