CA is a great first gun. You won't regret it at all. But I would look more into an M15 rifle or carbine instead of the AR-10 if for no other reason than the mags are much easier to find. It sucks to have a great gun but not have enough mags for it. If you're planning on gaming, many games won't allow hi cap mags like that come with the gun. You'll need several mags in order to play. And as mentioned, if you have standard mags, you can always share between squadmates like Amos said.
