Studies concerning digital (pixelized) patterns show an improvement of the visual disruption over "analog" patterns. The colors are for blending into a perticular environment.
Since a soldier is always "on the move", they must use an average color that will absorb the colors of a perticular zone. Brown still is the most found color in nature. Then grey, OD and so on.
Black shapes are more easily spotted that pale shapes. So black is to be avoided, even in the night.
This topic can go on and on. There's a part of science and "coolness" I guess.
From all thoses choices, I would take MARPAT.
