you could try the 'presidents choice' airsoft that's coming out now, jing gong. TM clones. guns closer to the $300 mark. as for after purchase service no one i know offers a warranty. however most problems on a stock gun can be repaired for under $50.. probably just a shim job maybe bushings or a broken tappet plate.. i dunno. my p90 has been reliable.
there are gun doctors around who can be talked into fixing your guns AND there is a wealth of knowlage right here on ASC. so basicly a little research and you can fix your gun yourself. and people more then willing to help you over the net.
i don't know if these guys still are updating but i learn alot from
mechbox.com. enough for me to upgrade my gun with no previous experience and like i said, it has been reliable.
if you really want a feel for airsoft see if you can rent someones spare, many guys have extra guns just for new guys.
if you can get age verified you can buy a used one off someone in the forums and probably find a good deal.
