At the last game I was at I sold a NiMH 1200mah 8.4 stick battery and the guy went and charged it on a peak charger and blew it up. He came back asking why the battery had blown up like a balloon and when I looked at his peak charger and the settings on it, I showed him exactly why.
Spend the extra money on an intelligent charger (ie: NPT and delta cut off circuit as a MINIMUM) but no more than $75CAD in my opinion - beyond that you're getting frills you really don't need for airsoft.

Those fancy battery chargers are just money grabbers, with fancy dancy names.
But just do this and u will never have any problems, find yourself a charger that does half the amps of the battery per hour.
the 20$ universal charger is ALL you need when the settings are .8amps and 1.6 amp per hour. these airsoft batteries are hardly ever bigger than 4000mah
stick with the universal charger
