I usually shim from the bevel gear to get the best alignment with the motor.
They are proper hardwired mosfets without active braking.
The reason I'm suspecting the batteries (ie the voltage) is that I'm getting the same problem on two guns, both running 11.1's.
Granted, the internals of the guns are pretty much identical, too.
