I don't like the burst avacado, I've heard some disappointing things about them from some gun builders. The gate units are not bad.

What are your goals for the gun? if it's strictly to prevent burning up of trigger contacts, a basic fet unit is all you need. I personally don't like active braking because of the motor wear, and I have this feature turned off on my computerized units.

Beyond active braking, do you need:

rate of fire control?

burst fire mode?

voltage detection to prevent over draining of lipos?

What are you trying to do now and later? If all you're doing is putting in a 11v lipo and don't care about anything else, you can buy a 20-30$ unit... if you want to get fancy with your build for maximum trigger response or not worry about sucking lipos dry, not everyone needs a fancy computerized mosfet.

A basic fet with a built in poly fuse will do. This eliminates the bulky stock fuse and replaces it with a self resetting thermal fuse.. it gets too hot, the circuit breaks until it cools down.

Extreme-fire has a basic poly fet, I think gate makes one as well... but if you have 60-70$ and you're planning further upgrades like a lower ratio gearset or a stronger motor, you really should look at the computerized units, guns tend to shoot high rate of fire when you start messing with motors and gears, and having a computerized unit to slow it back down is handy.
