NVG is certainly not necessary, and in fact, the vast majority out here anyway do no have NVGs. I have had plenty of fun fighting NVG users including gen 3 and beat them many a time, you just need to change tactics and how you use cover.

NVGs are great fun, yes, but certainly not necessary.
