Definitely range. The cobra ones you posted say they go up to 30 miles...in a straight sight line maybe on a clear day with no obstructions. The power output is a fixed .5w, where as the wouxuns can be switched from .5w to 5w. Functionality, on the wouxun, I can monitor 2 channels at once, and as Brian said reliability.

"I have to say, buying these radios was a waste of $60. I realize that these will not go 30 miles in forest, mountains, cities, or any other place where obstacles are blocking the pathway. But while talking to someone another car, we could not go even 3 quarters of a mile without losing reception. There is no point to having radios with this little range. I don't know if I will ever buy Cobra radios again. I gave these a 2 star because of there features, there is quite a lot, but if there is no range, there is no point for so many features. "
