Update.
I went to the store today and the staff are quite willing to help.
They said they would contact the rep who gave them the guns and see about a repair.
I did do some research and was reasonably assured that Ares was a good make. Maybe I am wrong about that or maybe it was just a one off thing.

*Update to the update.
The store called me back and they were incredibly helpful. They told me that there is a paintball store in London(about 45mins away) that also sells airsoft and does repairs. They are going to pay for the repair and they suggested that I bring the gun myself so that whoever repairs it can show me how to properly install the battery and run through operation of the gun with me. I for one think this is a great idea for all noobs.
