Anyone else a little perturbed about the fact that ASC's home page has no article mentioning Remembrance day and why it is the most important holiday we have?
With Canada's most somber day right around the corner, everyone's in a frenzy about being a dirt squirrel to win prizes...
...Seriously? That makes front page and higher on peoples priority lists?
I regard airsoft as a pass time to have the highest loyalty and best camaraderie in any sport we play nowadays with its roots growing from soil that was given to us by soldiers who did and still are paying the highest price to Canada. Don't get me wrong I fully support the cause that movember raises awareness for, but where did growing facial hair for one month take precedence over the fallen heroes? Especially when they only ask for people to fashion a red poppy for a couple weeks and to spend 1 hour in respect.
Am I blowing this out of proportion? I honestly don't give a sh*t if you think so.
For those of you who will spend Friday sleeping in or hungover go ahead. But for me and the thankful we have a ceremony to attend.
In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie,
In Flanders fields.
Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.
Rest in Peace Comrades.
