It affects Canada because we share a lot of media. If people in Canada see or read a story about some teen punks shooting airsoft (softair) guns and hurting other people, it doesn't matter where it happened; people will just associate airsoft (softair) + teenagers + hurting other = bad.
It's how stereotypes get started.
