Too tight means it jams up. Too loose means the motor gear is grinding the teeth of the bevel gear. One is a no brainer, the other is serious damage. At least it's a good rule of thumb, noise = too far back, clicking = too deep.

Thanks for that answer, lucky I don't think it was that problem because I couldn't get it any closer o.o Still could be a issue contributing though.
