Nope...same springs.
Are the gear axels turning freely in the bushings...i.e. take the cylinder/spring bits out and just turn the gears by hand with the mechbox all screwed together tight.
If your bushings aren't seated flush, they'll bind. If the axels are out of spec, they may drag. When the mechbox is done up tight, the shell might be torquing and throwing the shimming off.
If you're 100% sure the shimming is set...try the stock spring again. If it works...either your motor is weak or your battery isn't supplying enough juice (could be nicks in the wiring too).
Main springs for the V2 and V3 are the same.
