And no, it will not strip your piston, the piston is only doing the same motion it did in a reverse. There is no reason why it would put any stress on the piston.
However it is true you should have a reversal latch more than you shouldnt.

You completely missed what I was saying.
If you pull the trigger as the piston is un-winding, the gears will do a revolution, catch the piston in mid-cycle and most likely strip it. Same concept as firing the gun alot while it's jammed.
