Most BB's aren't 6mm. They are in fact supposed to be 5.97 +/- .01mm (or something like that. Depending on brand there will be variations to this).
The best way to find out what size your barrel is (without knowledge of what parts are actually in your gun) is to use a set of calipers. Otherwise most stock guns come with 6.08 mm barrels.
