I believe the PDI hop-up chamber allows you to use AEG barrels which are more readily available (anyone feel free to correct me). With the stock hop-up chamber you can only use parts that are replacements for the original part. I believe that the smallest diameter of inner barrel I've seen for the original hop-up chamber is 6.04mm.
