Is a useful prop, you'd be better off using a personal alarm with the pull ring though, is louder at 110dB. A few years ago I set out to build this circuit, and was working out some bugs, then ran out of time and forgot about it. I removed the speaker from the timer, and used that to trigger a transistor to switch the battery leads on the alarm, worked well. The timer itself switches the ground side of the speaker, so that's something you'll have to sort out as far as activating the transistor to do the switching though.
My design was basically set the timer, pull the pin to arm it, then let it do it's thing. The personal alarm works well as a trip wire too.
