Check the screw that holds the rear sight. Mine came free and would block the striker.

Check part #78. Sounds like that could have snapped. Its the striking hammer.

The hammer assembly looks alright, as far as i can tell without taking it apart. Part #78, the striking hammer, strikes out to hit the gas button after pushing back part#94 (racking the slide) and pulling the trigger.
One question: With the slide taken off, and a filled mag inserted, would the still shoot out if I pull the trigger? Or is it a safety mechanism?
