cheap bomb prop

a little while back one of our local players showed up to a game with a new prop, to add to our fun.it was a bomb complete with count down warning and all.there were two problems that i recall, and one he was working on fixing.

1)the count down could only be set for about 5.45 and that was as high as it would go.at .45 the beeping would speed up and when it reached 0 it would flat line.thus having exploded.

2)the second problem was that while the beeping was constant it wasn't very loud,if you were more than 10 feet away then you didn't hear it at all.

now i liked his setup and i know i wouldn't be able to make one that worked half as well, but i had this idea:

when at the dollar store i found a kitchen timer and a door/window alarm and was wondering if they couldn't be combined to make a more adjustable bomb?

the timer would give better input for the time (up to an hour)and seconds.'
using the alarm would give a much louder "explosion" at the end,but no beeping to tell people where it is prior to detonation.(unfortunately).

the problem is i have little or no understanding of electronics/wiring.the switch for the alarm is magnetic so when separated the alarm sounds. to my mind what would have to be done would be to wire the timers sound wires into the alarm, so when the timer hit 0 the alarm would sound.and the alarm would have to be set to go off when the timer says to,like"hey the magnet moved sound off!"

after this you would only have to mount it to a suitable frame to suit your preferences, either a pipe or a briefcase or a block of plumbers putty to simulate c4.whatever you like.
so what i am asking for is someone to try it out and see if it can be done.perhaps (among all the players ) there is a electronics's person who could say if the idea is worth trying or not.

my idea+ your knowledge=cool game prop!!
