Well with the helpful advice from the members of Airsoft Canada I upgraded my gun with a new elite battery from cheapbatterypacks.com and upgraded the gun from its mini connectors to Deans connectors.

I had hoped that the stock charger would take to the Deans plugs, but after they were installed it would not charge, it was flashing an error message. If anyone has done this and it was successful please post your results.

Also for anyone who owns a full stock G&G GR16 the new elite 9.6v 4000mah large cell will just fit no modifications are required to the stock; furthermore if you wish not to upgrade the connector type cheap battery packs will let you choose whatever connector or pack configuration you wish.
